Journal Prompts::August 2022

Oh August, in Nebraska, a month full of emotions. For some, a return to school, a break from the kids, or more regularly scheduled programming. For others, a prelude to football season and everything pumpkin spice. With the spectrum of experiences August has to offer, I felt connected to share and reflect on an idea from James Clear about wonder. He writes, "Children are joyful and treat each day as a miracle—in part because they are continually surprised. Each day, they hear a new word or listen to a new song or learn about a new animal. It's their first time visiting that restaurant or jumping in that pool or riding that rollercoaster. The world is continually unfolding before them.”

“How can you introduce more surprise into your life as an adult?”

“How can you renew your sense of childlike wonder?"

What experiences are you being intentional about this month?

Can you view them from a lense with childlike wonder?

What aspects of my childhood self do I want to reconnect with?

As always, I am grateful for each and every one of you. I am thrilled that you’re making space for the transformational healing and learning power of writing. May your writing bring you understanding, compassion, and insight to continue to grow in love with yourself!
